Bio:
Liz Lee received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta Canada and a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Liz’s work has appeared in numerous national and international exhibitions that encourage the audience to explore the point at which photography and technology, art and science, merge including participating in four prestigious SIGGRAPH Art Galleries and ASCI’s Envisioning Time, Space and the Future at the New York Hall of Science. Solo exhibitions include the Ameristar Gallery at the Foundry Art Center in St. Charles, MO, the Weeks Gallery at Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, NY, Zone VI Galleryat Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH, the Porter Hall Gallery at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS and the Race Street Gallery at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, MI.
Her work also appears in Robert Hirsch’s text Light and Lens: Photography in the Digital Age (1st and 2nd editions) and Exploring Color Photography: From Film to Pixels (5th and 6th editions) and is held in the Permanent Collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland OH, Novosibirsk State Art Museum in Novosibirsk, Russia; Georgetown College, Georgetown, KY and Erie Institute of Technology, Erie, PA. In 2007 she received a fellowship with Booksmart Studios in Rochester, NY to produce her series Grassroots (the shun series) as a limited edition fine-art book. Her essay, “A New Leaf”, which discusses contemporary electronic imaging’s return to its photographic origins through nature-related subject matter, is published in Dr. Anna Ursyn’s anthology, Biologically-Inspired Computing for the Arts: Scientific Data through Graphics (IGI Global).
Images from her Sun Prints series are included in “The Muse” showcase published in Diffusion, Volume IV (One Twelve Publishing). In 2013 Liz became the inaugural recipient of the Marion Fellowship for the Visual and Performing Arts in which she completed the series, Cosmological Processes.
