Bio:

  • Pat Hanrahan is the CANON Professor at Stanford University.  His current research involves visualization, image synthesis, virtual worlds, and graphics architectures. While at Pixar Animation Studios, he was the chief architect of the RenderMan interface. Previously, he directed the computer graphics group in the Computer Graphics Laboratory at the New York Institute of Technology.

    He has received three teaching awards, two Academy Awards, the SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Achievement Award, the SIGGRAPH Stephen A. Coons Award, and the IEEE Visualization Career Award. He was recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
