Bio:
As HCI researcher and media artist, Seonghoon Ban plans and produces various technology-based exhibitions and projects. Having completed his Ph.D. at KAIST’s Graduate School of Culture and Technology, he has studied systems that can give people new experiences. He is working on shape-changing displays that physically create different shapes depending on data and form real-time projection mapping. He has been working on an exhibition of media art that brings the characteristic of participants and reconstructs them into a digital society. Currently, he lectures on virtual studio at Korea National University of Arts, and operates art research studio RECON Labs Inc.

Abstract Summary:We introduce an installation art project using the active volumetric filmmaking technology to investigate its possibilities in art practice. To do that, we developed a system to film volumetric video in real time, thereby allowing its users to capture large environments and objects without fixed placement or preinstallation of cameras.
