Bio:
Tarah Rhoda received her BFA in 2010 from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and she also studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Yanking at the micro and macro, her work investigates the body as a miniature world— one with landscapes, weather, and systems of self-maintenance that produce a spectrum of minerals and artifacts. She is based in Brooklyn and working in the SVA BioArt lab, researching live materials and exploring the intersection of art, science and technology. She recently attended a bio-safety in the laboratory bootcamp in Atlantic City. This past summer she worked on a research project about testing nutrients in soil that won the Gold medal in the 2015 iGEM Art & Design track. Her most current project investigates the remarkable relationship between chlorophyll and hemoglobin.
